Iwobi happy at Everton amid exit talk

Everton manager Sean Dyche has played down reports that Alex Iwobi is unhappy at Goodison Park. Reports in Turkey have suggested that the midfielder is 'unhappy' at Goodison Park, and Fenerbahce are interested in signing the Nigerian on an initial loan deal until the end of the season before the Turkish transfer window closes on Sunday.

Jorge Jesus, a fan of Iwobi's versatile style of play, believes his arrival will help his team's attack and wants the club to approve the deal.

"Fenerbahce has stepped in for Iwobi, who plays for Everton, a Premier League team," according to A Spor.

Dyche, speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's trip to Nottingham Forest on Friday, insists that from what he's seen at Finch Farm, Iwobi does not appear unhappy.

"Well, I saw him today, and he appears to be quite happy" (Friday).

"I can only go on what my eyes and my feelings tell me. I'd say it's highly unlikely."

Iwobi has been an important player for the Toffees this season, scoring one goal in 29 appearances. Since Dyche's arrival as manager, the Nigeria international has started every game, and former manager Frank Lampard previously admitted that talks about a new contract for Iwobi had taken place.

The former Arsenal man has only 18 months left on his current contract, so Everton fans will be relieved to see him commit to a new deal.

Iwobi's new contract will be a 'three-and-a-half-year agreement' that will keep him in Merseyside until 2026.

According to reports, the midfielder's weekly wage will rise from £70,000 to £100,000 under the new contract.
