Eguavoen clarifies that the NFF did not dismiss Waldrum as the Super Falcons coach

Augustine Eguavoen, the Head of Nigeria Football Federation's Technical Committee, clarified that there was no instance of the NFF terminating the contract of Super Falcons Coach Randy Waldrum.

Eguavoen conveyed to The Guardian yesterday that, following the Super Falcons' performance at the 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, Waldrum should continue his efforts to build a strong team for upcoming events such as the Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

He stated, "The NFF Technical Committee currently maintains a positive and healthy relationship with Waldrum. Everyone witnessed the impressive showing of the Super Falcons at the 2023 Women's World Cup."

Eguavoen expressed his confusion regarding the rumors of Waldrum's dismissal, as, to the best of his knowledge, the NFF Technical Committee had not officially announced any such decision.

He added, "After Waldrum finalized the list of players for the Women's Nations Cup qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe, we had discussions over the phone. The resolution of his contract matters was supposed to be addressed when he visited Nigeria for the Sao Tome game. Unfortunately, Sao Tome withdrew from the qualifiers."

Eguavoen explained that the Technical Committee needed to wait until the Super Falcons played their next match to finalize Waldrum's contract extension, which was imminent. He emphasized the positive rapport with Waldrum and noted that the duration of his contract extension would be determined after a meeting with the Technical Committee.
