Awoniyi's Fitness Not Yet Complete, Says Nottingham Forest Manager, Cooper

According to Nottingham Forest's manager, Steve Cooper, Taiwo Awoniyi is still in the process of regaining full fitness.

Awoniyi underwent a last-minute fitness assessment and was included in the matchday squad for the recent away match against Arsenal.

During the game, the Nigerian international entered as a substitute and managed to score in the 2-1 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Cooper shared further insights into the fitness status of the striker and his teammate, Moussa Niakhite, in anticipation of the upcoming home match against Sheffield United on Saturday.

"Both Awoniyi and Niakhite have been gradually gaining minutes on the field through various methods. In the previous week, Taiwo entered as a substitute against Arsenal. It was a calculated decision as he hadn't participated in extensive training. Yet, when a match is underway and an opportunity presents itself, it's a chance you seize," Cooper explained.
