Agent Discloses the Reasons Behind Kudus' Unsuccessful Move to Chelsea

Jennifer Mendelewitsch, the representative of Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus, has disclosed that the player came close to joining Chelsea, but the deal fell through due to the club's insufficient offer.

Kudus showcased exceptional performance at Ajax from 2020 to 2023, scoring 27 goals and providing 12 assists in 87 games across all competitions. His outstanding skills as an attacking midfielder garnered interest from top European clubs, particularly during the last summer's transfer window.

Despite strong links to Chelsea, who sought to strengthen their midfield, the deal did not materialize. Instead, Kudus signed with West Ham United for a transfer fee of €43 million on August 27, 2023. Since then, he has delivered impressive performances, scoring 6 goals and providing one assist in 11 games across all competitions for West Ham.

Interestingly, none of Chelsea's new midfielders, including Moisés Caicedo, for whom the Blues set a Premier League record with a €116 million payment, have matched Kudus's level of performance this season.

In an interview with RMC Sport, Kudus's agent explained the failure of the Ghanaian's transfer to Chelsea. The agent stated, "We reached an agreement with Chelsea, but the deal didn't materialize."

"Kudus had discussions with the coach, but ultimately, it didn't happen because Chelsea presented an inadequate offer to Ajax."

The agent further mentioned, "There was no counter-offer. Chelsea did this with many players this summer."

"They made very low offers, knowing they wouldn't be accepted. The truth is, they were entirely focused on the transfer of Caicedo."
