ARMED robbers have taken their activities to new heights in Nigeria by breaking into a Royal Air Maroc aircraft parked on the tarmac of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos and robbing its passengers.

Apparently, the aircraft had just landed from Rabat in Morocco before it was attacked by assailants who forced opened the cargo hold and dispossessed passengers of their luggage. They then forced opened the cargo hold of the aircraft and made away with some items belonging to the passengers on board the flight.

Henrietta Yakubu, a spokeswoman for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (Faan) confirmed the attack. She added that the flight with registration number CN – ROR landed at the airport at about 0404 hours on October 11 before its cabin door was forced open.

It is not yet clear if any of the passengers or staff were harmed during the attack or what weapons the robbers were armed with. Faan have also not conformed if any arrests have been made or explained how the robbers managed to get out of the airport perimeter.
