PDP Dominates Taraba State Local Government Election
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidates emerged victorious in all the chairmanship positions during the local government council election in Taraba State. The announcement was made by Philip Duwe, the chairman of the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), while declaring the election results at the commission's headquarters in Jalingo.
Duwe revealed that six political parties contested for both chairmanship and councillorship positions across the 16 local government areas (LGAs) of the state. The results of the 165 contested councilors seats were declared at the various LGAs.
He commended the media for their objective coverage of the election and expressed gratitude for their commitment and resilience. Duwe emphasized the importance of receiving observations, criticisms, and suggestions to improve the electoral process.
The election had been keenly contested, and the PDP emerged overwhelmingly victorious in the announced results. Duwe affirmed the legal validity of the results declared at the local government collation centers, highlighting the transparency and objectivity of the process.
