Lamidi Apapa-Led Labour Party Claims Julius Abure Concedes Defeat of Election Tribunal

The Labour Party (LP), led by Lamidi Apapa, has declared that Julius Abure, a factional leader within the party, has already conceded defeat ahead of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal scheduled for Wednesday, September 6, 2023. The party made this announcement in a press release issued just hours before the tribunal's judgment, urging law enforcement agencies to be vigilant and apprehend any troublemakers posing as members of the Labour Party.

In the statement signed by Dr. Arabambi Abayomi, the National Publicity Secretary of the LP, the party expressed its commitment to upholding the rule of law and good conduct, emphasizing these principles as integral to its identity in the political landscape.

The LP voiced its regret over the ongoing mudslinging and character assassination within its ranks following the last election, particularly the presidential polls. It highlighted concerns about divisive statements and actions resembling those seen in other groups, notably IPOB, and called for unity and constructive dialogue instead.

The party urged its supporters to remain calm and law-abiding as they await the tribunal's verdict, affirming that it would not tolerate uncivilized behavior.

Regarding the tribunal case, the LP stressed the importance of non-violence and respecting the court's decision, emphasizing that only God can determine the outcome.

The LP also called on law enforcement agencies to uphold their constitutional duties by apprehending those inciting trouble, asserting that Nigeria is bigger than any individual or group.

Additionally, the LP criticized Julius Abure's objection to the tribunal's live coverage of the judgment, asserting that it is within the tribunal's rights. It called for the arrest and prosecution of anyone causing civil disobedience or disturbances under the guise of the Labour Party, emphasizing the obligation of security agencies to maintain peace.

Lastly, the LP noted that Julius Abure had already conceded defeat and planned to appeal to the Supreme Court, further calling for the arrest of troublemakers and the protection of law-abiding citizens.
