Kogi State Government Denies Harassing ADC Governorship Candidate

The Kogi State Government has refuted allegations of harassing the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Leke Abejide. Kingsley Fanwo, the state's Commissioner for Information and Communications, dismissed the claims as untrue.

In a statement from Lokoja, Fanwo asserted that Abejide was merely a token candidate in the gubernatorial lineup and not a serious contender in the race for governorship.

Fanwo stated, "Leke Abejide's campaign has been characterized by baseless and unfounded allegations. What the people of Kogi want to hear is a clear plan for building upon the significant achievements of the current governor. However, he has consistently missed the opportunity to impress the public."

He pointed out that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Alhaji Usman Ododo, had consistently outlined his plans for building on the accomplishments of the incumbent governor and had explained how he would achieve this. Fanwo emphasized that Ododo's dedication to a united and prosperous Kogi was beyond question.

"Ododo emerged as a candidate based on his track record and his readiness to advance the state. With seven years of government experience, he possesses a thorough understanding of what is necessary to build upon the widely acclaimed achievements of the present administration," Fanwo added.

The commissioner also urged residents to maintain peace before, during, and after the election, reassuring them of the government's commitment to conducting a free and fair election.
