INEC: No Candidate for Bayelsa, Imo, Kogi Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has emphasized its impartiality in the November 11 governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States. The Chairman of the Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, stated that INEC has no candidate in the elections and is committed to ensuring a level playing field for all political parties and candidates.


In a statement released in Abuja, Yakubu assured that the staff of the Commission are prepared for the off-cycle elections. He underscored the responsibility of INEC to safeguard the electoral process and maintain fairness among all participating political entities.


As the elections approach, Yakubu called on INEC officials, both regular and ad-hoc, to exhibit the highest level of patriotism and professionalism. He reiterated that INEC is not aligned with any political party and has no candidate in the elections, emphasizing the importance of a transparent and unbiased electoral process.
