Osimhen delays committing to Man United because he favours a dream move to Chelsea as the new Drogba

SUPER Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is apparently delaying a decision on joining Manchester United at the end of the season until he hears from Chelsea because the London club would be his ideal destination as he dreams of being the new Didier Drogba.

In what would be an audacious plan, Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solksjaer is keen on prising Osimhen away from Lille at the end of the season and then signing compatriot Odion Ighalo on a long term deal. He then plans to field an all-Nigerian attack force that would see the duo play alongside Marcus Rashford, in the hope that this could clinch the English Premier League title.

According to French publication Le10 Sport, Manchester United have locked on to Osimhen and are looking to strike a deal in the summer. Osimhen, 21, has been in blistering form this season, scoring 18 goals in 38 appearances for Lille and is one of the most sought-after strikers across Europe at the moment.

To sign Osimhen, however, Manchester United may have to come up with as much as around €100m as he looks set to become the subject of a bidding war involving the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool, Spurs, AC Milan and Real Madrid. However, it now app-ears that the striker’s first choice of club is Chelsea as Didier Drogba is his idol and he is hoping to follow in his footsteps at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea apparently enquired about Osimhen last year but decided against putting in a bid for him during the January transfer window. It is not yet clear if the club will put in a bid in the summer but it looks like Osimhen will wait to see what happens before making a decision on which offer to accept.

Like Drogba, Osimhen is a natural targetman who holds the ball up well, is good with his back to goal and is a prolific scorer. He has already established Himself as Nigeria’s first choice striker and is expected to have a long international career with the Super Eagles.
