Ohanaeze Ndigbo tells Reverend Father Mbaka to go and sin no more as it asks Peter Obi to forgive him

Ohanaeze Ndigbo tells Reverend Father Mbaka to go and sin no more as it asks Peter Obi to forgive him

OHANAEZE Ndigbo has told the spiritual director of the Catholic Adoration Ministry in Enugu Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka to go and sin no more in response to his recent criticism of former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Earlier this week, Reverend Father Mbaka declared that Governor Peter Obi, who is currently standing as the Labour Party candidate in Nigeria’s presidential elections, can never be elected as the president because he is a very stingy person.  Way back in 2018, Reverend Father Mbaka, had a public altercation with Governor Obi when he tried to compel him disclose how much he would donate to his church project during the annual harvest and bazaar celebration.

Reverend Father Mbaka’s outburst has attracted widespread condemnation from across the political spectrum, with many people asking him to stick to spiritual issues. Already, the Catholic Diocese of Enugu has disowned Reverend Father Mbaka over the inflammatory political utterances, urging the general public to hold him responsible for his outings.

In a further response, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo secretary-general, said:  “Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide has praised the Enugu Diocese of Catholic Church, led by Bishop Onaga for the prompt disclaimer to the inflammatory and unwarranted assault on the presidential candidate of the Labour Party and a Catholic brethren, Mr Peter Obi. We were not surprised that Father Mbaka acted as a machinery of doom paid by a southeast governor to sow seeds of discord in attempting to halt a celebrity status of Mr Peter Obi and his national acceptance as a unifying presidential candidate for Nigerians.

“Mbaka is human, bound to make blunders and needs our prayers, psychological and spiritual assistance to bounce back and we know that the Enugu Diocese of Catholic Church has cautioned him privately to refrain from political pronouncements. Go and sin no more Father Mbaka. We implore Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, to find a way to forgive Mbaka.

“To err is human and to forgive is divine. Nigerians are watching keenly and waiting patiently for more paid agents from southeastern Nigeria hired to do the campaign of calumny against the new Nigeria’s movement, Take Back Nigeria Mantra, led by the millions of Nigerians for Mr Peter Obi.”
