Zamfara issues a warning against provocative statements

Zamfara's Commissioner of Information and Culture, Alhaji Mannir Haidara, has issued a warning against attempts by certain politicians to smear the reputation of Governor Dauda Lawal and his administration.

In a statement released in Gusau on Monday, Haidara condemned recent statements that cast a negative light on Governor Lawal's administration, alleging that these statements were attributed to some experienced media professionals in the state.

"The state government has observed with great concern that some media veterans have been enlisted by politicians to tarnish the state government's image in pursuit of their self-serving interests," Haidara expressed.

"It is regrettable to see veteran journalists who have risen to management positions in the media industry engaging in mischief," he continued. "This is especially unfortunate given the baseless statements made by some media veterans regarding the current state administration and Governor Dauda Lawal's character."

Haidara further noted, "I did not originally intend to comment on the groundless allegations against our government, but it has become necessary for me to present the facts to the general public."

According to the Commissioner, all allegations made by those engaged in mischief that Governor Lawal failed to address the state's security challenges are without merit.

"We are all aware that when Lawal assumed office as the state's governor, security challenges were already at a critical level, and all socioeconomic activities had come to a halt," he explained. "Kidnapping, cattle rustling, and other serious crimes were rampant throughout the state. When we assumed office, there were no effective measures in place to address security issues, and many communities had been ravaged, with residents displaced from their homes."

Haidara continued, "In just three months of Governor Lawal's administration, he has introduced a range of policies and programs aimed at establishing lasting peace and stability in the state. He cleared all the unpaid three months' salaries and pensions from the previous administration."

"Citizens of the state are now witnessing and benefiting from the government's impacts in terms of economic and social security, thanks to well-thought-out policies and programs," Haidara added.

The Commissioner of Information urged media veterans in the state to refrain from participating in such unsubstantiated statements.
