Woman in Rivers discovered deceased in her residence
The lifeless body of yet another woman has been discovered in her residence within the Ogbumbada compound in Rumalogu, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
According to an undisclosed source, the deceased, identified as Blessing Williams, was found deceased in her apartment on Thursday.
The source, requesting anonymity, shared that the single mother had been facing challenging circumstances. The informant added that the deceased's mother had been assisting both her and her son in recent days, labeling her sudden demise as profoundly surprising.
She explained, "Earlier today, I was at home when the son walked past. My mother called him and inquired about his mother's well-being.
"He replied that his mom was doing well. Subsequently, she asked the boy to return home, celebrate his birthday, and return afterward so she could provide him with some money to buy something for himself and his mom.
"In less than 20 minutes, he hurried back, expressing concern that he had been trying to reach his mom, but she wasn't responding."
Furthermore, the informant disclosed, "I followed him, and indeed, his mother had passed away. We've been the ones providing them with food for the past three days."
This incident occurred subsequent to the discovery of the lifeless body of a female student from the University of Port Harcourt in her residence within the Aluu community in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.
Additionally, it follows weeks after the decomposed remains of another female student from the University of Port Harcourt, Justina Otuene, were allegedly found in her ex-lover's apartment in Ozuoba, also within the Obio/Akpor LGA.
On Thursday, distressing news emerged of a 13-year-old girl allegedly abducted, killed, and buried in a shallow grave by criminals in Amaku-Mba, Etche LGA of the state.
Attempts to contact the spokesperson for the state Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, regarding the latest incident proved unsuccessful, as her mobile phone was not reachable. She had also not responded to a text message sent to her as of the time of compiling this report on Friday.
