Woman Found Dead in Ex-Lover's House, Suspect Arrested by Police

The Ondo State Police Command apprehended Bankole Oginni, a 45-year-old man, in connection with the demise of a woman identified as his former romantic partner.

As per law enforcement officials, the lifeless body of the 45-year-old woman (whose identity has not yet been disclosed by the authorities) was discovered within the residence of the suspect. Disturbingly, certain portions of her body had been mutilated.

The police further conveyed that the deceased's daughter alerted them to the situation. She had come across her mother's deceased body, bound by a rope, with certain body parts missing, at the suspect's residence situated in the Oke Aro area of Akure, the capital city of the state, on Sunday.

Confirming the incident, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the State Police Public Relations Officer, verified that the remains of the deceased have been transported to a mortuary and that an investigation is currently underway.

According to her, "A young woman came to the station and informed us that her mother's former partner, Bankole Oginni, had contacted her mother, inviting her over to his residence in the Oke Aro district of Akure. After she went to his house, she never returned, and her phone became unreachable.

"She followed her mother's trail to his residence, only to discover her lifeless body within the ex-lover's room. The deceased was found with her hands and legs bound, her body had been opened with the removal of her intestines, and there were evident marks of burns from hot water on several parts of her body.

"The individual, who identified himself as a footballer, is now under police custody, and the deceased's body has been taken to the morgue."
