Unidentified assailants seize distressed law professor from UNICAL
On Thursday, armed individuals seized Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the Dean of the Law Faculty at the University of Calabar, who had been facing suspension due to allegations including sexual harassment. The abduction occurred at his residence in Akpabuyo, Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State.
David Ndifon, the professor's son, confirmed the abduction to our correspondent, recounting how the gunmen infiltrated their home, discharged gunshots randomly, and threatened family members with their firearms.
"It is accurate. He was indeed abducted by gunmen. The incident occurred between 11 p.m. on Wednesday and the early hours of Thursday. We have been diligently making calls and taking necessary actions to secure his safe release," David confirmed.
Prior to the abduction, Ndifon had reported being followed to a church location by masked individuals who also made an attempt to abduct him.
