Uber Eats unveils text, image AI shopping tool

In an effort to streamline grocery shopping, Uber Eats is implementing artificial intelligence.

On Wednesday, the business said that a new AI assistant will be added to its food delivery platform, allowing users to create shopping carts with handwritten lists and other text or photos.

Numerous large shops, such as Safeway, Albertsons, and Kroger, are partnering with Uber to launch the feature.

The company claims that the tool allows consumers to modify their selections while taking item preferences and store availability into account.

Uber's technology chief, Praveen Neppalli Naga, stated in a press release that "Cart Assistant reflects how we think about AI at Uber: starting with real customer needs and building practical solutions within the app." "We can create tools that feel useful and intuitive by firmly establishing these features in actual user behaviour."

Uber unveiled additional restaurant technologies in July, including AI-generated menu descriptions and user review summaries.

Uber's delivery division saw a 26% year-over-year increase in gross bookings, which reached $25.4 billion in the fourth quarter.
