Twelve Nigerian University Students Discovered with Firearms

At least twelve students from Abia State University Uturu have been expelled for alleged illegal possession of a firearm, according to reports. Additionally, four other students have been suspended for offenses such as stealing and cultism, which violated their matriculation oaths. The expulsions were reportedly ratified by the University Senate, indicating a zero-tolerance approach to misconduct at the institution.

The statement released by the university indicated that the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu, emphasized his administration's commitment to zero tolerance for criminal activities by students. The expelled and suspended students faced charges ranging from stealing at gunpoint to cultism, illegal possession of firearms, de-marketing the university, and examination malpractice.

The university's Public Relations office noted that the number of sanctioned students may be higher than reported, as a comprehensive list is being prepared for public disclosure. The university management asserted its commitment to applying necessary sanctions against any form of misconduct and is also investigating allegations of extortion and sexual harassment by staff members.
