Turkey has shown concern for Nigeria following the catastrophic floods that impacted Mokwa and neighboring areas in Niger State.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its condolences to the Nigerian government and the families affected by the calamity.
The statement conveyed sadness over the loss of lives and the significant damage incurred from the floods in the Mokwa area.
“We are profoundly saddened by the fatalities and destruction caused by the catastrophic floods in the Mokwa region of Niger State, Nigeria.
“We offer our condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives and to the people of Nigeria," the statement stated.
In reaction to the tragedy, President Bola Tinubu sent a high-level delegation to Niger State on Saturday to evaluate the situation and aid relief efforts.
According to statistics released by the Niger State Government, at least 151 individuals have been confirmed dead, and over 3,000 residents have been displaced.
