Trump’s air strikes aimed at bringing peace to Nigeria — US lawmaker

A United States lawmaker, Congressman Riley Moore, has come out in defence of President Donald Trump, saying the recent US airstrikes in Nigeria were aimed at restoring peace and security rather than escalating conflict.

In a post shared on X on Monday, Moore said the Christmas Day strikes targeting ISIS positions were carried out to protect thousands of Christians who have been subjected to severe violence and life-threatening attacks.

According to him, the coordinated military action has offered renewed hope to Christian communities in Nigeria.

Moore stated that President Trump’s intention was not to wage war on Nigeria but to help ensure peace and security for the country and safeguard Christians facing brutal persecution.

He noted that the strikes against ISIS, carried out in collaboration with the Nigerian government, were designed to curb extremist threats and bring relief to affected communities.

Meanwhile, the US military operation was earlier announced by Trump on his Truth Social platform, revealing that precision airstrikes were conducted on ISIS camps in Sokoto State.
