Tragic Incident: 13-Year-old boy drowning at Lagos Beach
Tragedy struck on Tuesday as 13-year-old Kelvin Onyengba drowned while hanging out at Alatise Beach in the Ajah area of Lagos State around noon. The unfortunate incident took place on February 27 while the boy was swimming with five friends. According to a police source, Kelvin lost his life due to the strong waves of the sea.
The source reported, "The incident occurred yesterday. The boy's mother stated that her son was swept away by the water's wave. She mentioned that he had gone out with five friends for a swim and to hang out, but sadly, he did not return to his parents."
Upon reaching out, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, affirmed the incident to our correspondent. Hundeyin conveyed that detectives from the area had visited the scene and mentioned that the family of the deceased was still awaiting the recovery of the missing body.
Detectives from the division visited the incident's location while the family awaited the emergence of the body from the sea.
Oriyomi Remilekun, a Lagos-based prophet known for his zest for enjoyment, is reported to have drowned during a beach hangout in the Ajah area of the state, celebrating Valentine's Day this year. The late Oriyomi led some youths from his white garment church to Avista Beach in the area on Saturday, February 17, for the commemoration. According to a source familiar with the incident, the picnic, extending into the evening, concluded when Oriyomi's whereabouts became unknown.
