Tinubu to present 2026 budget proposal to NASS Friday

President Bola Tinubu is anticipated to deliver the 2026 Appropriation Bill to a combined session of the National Assembly on Friday, December 19, 2025.

Prior to the presentation, a formal announcement from the Presidency is expected to be conveyed on the floor of the House of Representatives during plenary on Thursday, informing lawmakers and staff about the President’s scheduled appearance.

Signs emerged following a letter dated December 17, 2025, which was signed by the Secretary of Human Resources and Staff Development, Adm. Essien Eyo Essien, on behalf of the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana. The letter was also sent to the Deputy Clerk and department heads.

As per the communication, President Tinubu, in his role as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, will present the proposed 2026 Budget at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

The letter also detailed security and access protocols for that day, instructing all accredited individuals to be at their posts by 11:00 a.m., as entry to the National Assembly complex will be limited after that time. It further advised unaccredited individuals to remain away from the complex.

Additionally, staff members, with the exception of the Clerk, Deputy Clerk, Clerk of the House, Clerk of the Senate, and their deputies, were instructed to park their vehicles in designated areas at the Annex or the new parking facility by the National Assembly Service Gate.

This annual budget presentation serves as the official submission of the Federal Government’s financial proposals to the legislature for review and approval.
