Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has lamented the passing of Rotimi Akeredolu, his Ondo State counterpart. Fubara conveyed his shock at the demise of the lawyer, who succumbed to prostate cancer on Wednesday. In a statement issued on Thursday in Port Harcourt by the governor's media aide, Boniface Onyedi, Fubara described the late leader as someone devoted to the service and welfare of his people and humanity.

Fubara expressed his deep concern upon learning of Akeredolu's demise, emphasizing that the loss is not confined to Ondo State but is a sorrowful event for the entire nation. He remarked, “Chief Rotimi Akeredolu was a distinguished gentleman, renowned for his profound respect for the rule of law as an experienced lawyer. During this period of mourning and sorrow, our thoughts and prayers are with the family, the government, and the people of Ondo State.”
