The Coordinating Director of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board highlighted that the car loan initiative aims to alleviate the impact of the national economic crisis on the teachers.
The Oyo State Government has promptly authorized the disbursement of a car loan to primary school teachers across all zones within the state. This decision was conveyed through a statement issued by Mr. Jacob Dairo, the Coordinating Director of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, on Friday in Ibadan. Mr. Dairo elucidated that this initiative serves as a palliative measure for the teachers.
He further explained that the car loan, which would be disbursed in installments, is intended to alleviate the impact of the prevailing economic crisis on the teachers. The approval for this loan program was granted by Governor Seyi Makinde, who emphasized the importance of impartiality in its implementation.
The coordinating director advised the recipients to utilize the loan for its designated purpose. He stated that the financial institutions providing the facility expect its repayment to be completed within a span of 40 months.
In the meantime, Prof. Salihu Abdulwaheed, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in the state, has expressed his willingness to collaborate with all stakeholders within the education sector. This commitment was reaffirmed during his visit to the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board's Directorate on Thursday.
Abdulwaheed emphasized that the state government has intentions to engage in the recruitment of additional teachers for the basic education sub-sector. He further highlighted that comprehensive staff training will be a priority for the government, aiming for holistic success as detailed by Mr. Dairo.
