In Osun, the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced a fresh wave of suspensions, affecting 26 more party members for alleged anti-party activities. This decision comes right after the expulsion of 84 members for similar reasons the previous day.
The State Chairman of Osun APC, Mr. Sooko Lawal, made this announcement through an official statement. Lawal clarified that these suspensions were prompted by complaints and allegations of party factionalization attributed to the individuals in question.
He explained, "In response to the complaints of anti-party activities, the State Executive Committee of the Osun State chapter of the APC established a Disciplinary Committee to investigate these allegations against certain members. This disciplinary action is a result of accusations of misconduct related to factionalization within the party and the creation of parallel party structures."
Lawal emphasized the thorough and impartial review carried out by the disciplinary committee and the subsequent deliberations by the State Executive Committee. He concluded by stating that this challenging but necessary step was taken after a comprehensive assessment of the evidence and careful consideration of the committee's recommendations.
He mentioned that the individuals facing suspension include Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, Najeem Salami, Sen. Mudasiru Hussain, Adelowo Adebiyi, Mr. Adelani Baderinwa, Mr. Sikiru Ayedun, Kazeem Salami, Alhaji Adesiji Azeez, and Gbenga Akano. Additionally, those affected consist of Mr. Kunle Ige, Mr. Biodun Agboola, Gbenga Awosode, Rasheed Opatola, Gbenga Ogunkanmi, Israel Oyekunle, MBO Ibraheem, Akeem Olaoye, Francis Famurewa, and Mr. Tajudeen Famuyide.
Further individuals in the suspension list are Mrs. Adenike Abioye, Wasiu Adebayo, Rasheed Afolabi, Mr. Segun Olanibi, Mr. Tunde Ajilore, Mr. Ganiyu Ismaila Opeyemi, and Zakariah Khalid-Olaoluwa-South LCDA.
The party emphasized its call for members to maintain their focus on shared goals and continue working collaboratively to serve the interests of their constituents and the state. The party also reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and adherence to its core values.
Notably, the party's chairman had previously announced the expulsion of 84 members on Wednesday for allegedly accepting appointments under the governance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
