Suspended Employee Robs Petrol Station, Steals N6.8 Million, Co-Supervisor Gets Killed

Ishioma Ordu, a former supervisor at a Benin City filling station, has confessed to orchestrating a robbery to steal N6.8 million from his former workplace. Before his suspension, the 48-year-old from Oshimil North Local Government Area in Delta State was employed along the Benin-Agbor Road.

The Edo State Police claim that Ordu, now under arrest, is implicated in the robbery and fatal shooting of his colleague supervisor, Eze Emmanuel. Although he denies the accusation, Ordu admits to planning the robbery with two accomplices due to perceived unfair treatment by the station owner during his suspension.

While being paraded by the Edo police command, Ordu confessed to organizing the robbery but instructed the robbers not to harm anyone. He revealed that the motive stemmed from his director suspending him without pay after a physical altercation with a fellow petrol attendant.

Ordu detailed instructing the robbers to strike when the power was cut, anticipating the co-supervisor's routine of turning on the generator. The robbery took place at 12:43 a.m. on September 11, 2023, resulting in the death of the supervisor and the theft of N6.8 million.

Following the successful heist, Ordu and his accomplices divided the stolen money that night in an undeveloped area near the petrol station. The suspect, apprehended in Lagos, confessed to receiving over N4 million from the proceeds and disclosed using it to purchase an unregistered Toyota Sienna car.
