Seven arrested as hoodlums kill man in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of seven suspects in connection with the death of one Toyin Adeniji, who was said to be one of the aides of Dapo Sarumi, a state chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party.

According to Nigerianwatch, Adeniji was standing in front of his house on Oyewole Road in the Agege area of the state when suspected cultists stormed in and shot him dead.

It was learned that seven other people on the scene narrowly avoided death as the suspects shot sporadically during the operation.

While some claimed that Adeniji was killed by suspected cultists, others told our correspondent under the condition of anonymity that the victim was killed during a fracas involving transport workers in the area.

SP (State Police Public Relations) was contacted. In response to the news, Benjamin Hundeyin stated that seven people had been arrested in connection with the death of the 47-year-old.

"Yes, one Toyin Adeniji was shot dead on Monday," he said. The case has been turned over to the State Criminal Investigations Department, and seven suspects have been apprehended and are currently being held at the SCID."
