Reverend Commits Suicide as Adultery Scandal Spreads Across Church's WhatsApp Group

Oscar Mukahanana, a Reverend with the United Methodist Church, took his own life in the wake of a public scandal that unfolded when details of his extramarital affair with a female youth were leaked on the church's WhatsApp group.

The Harare East District Superintendent in Zimbabwe found himself at the center of controversy when an audio recording of a private conversation with the woman surfaced on the church's social media platform. In the leaked audio, Mukahanana allegedly expressed his satisfaction in providing the young lady with a fulfilling intimate experience just before her menstrual cycle.

The revelation triggered mockery from church members, who widely shared the audio across various social media groups. Some even went as far as creating memes to ridicule the District Superintendent over the adultery scandal.

Overwhelmed by humiliation and embarrassment, Mukahanana tragically ended his own life on Friday. The UMC Harare District confirmed the clergyman's death in a statement, expressing deep sadness. The statement also mentioned that the Office of the Bishop would inform the church about further developments and funeral arrangements, while urging the church to support the Mukahanana family through prayers.
