Nigerian singer, Mercy Isoyip, popularly known as Descushiel, has issued a public apology after facing backlash for incorrectly reciting the National Anthem during an event in Imo State. Dressed in a police uniform, Descushiel led the recitation of the anthem at the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Owerri. The event, attended by senior police and military officers, featured the acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma.

The video of the singer's error went viral, drawing criticism from the public. In response, Descushiel posted a video on her Instagram page expressing her sincere apologies for the mistake. She acknowledged the inexcusable error and promised to be more careful in the future to avoid such incidents. Descushiel concluded her message with blessings for the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
