Osun NSCDC has dispatched 1,500 personnel to key points ahead of Eid-el-Fitr
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State has announced the mobilization of 1,500 personnel for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. This deployment was disclosed by the Osun NSCDC Commandant, Michael Adaralewa, in a statement released by Kehinde Adeleke, the spokesperson, on Monday. The Command emphasized the importance of vigilance among the Muslim faithful and encouraged the observance of moderation and celebration within legal boundaries.
He further disclosed that the personnel were selected from various specialized units, including a special female squad, swift action response, anti-vandalism unit, armed squad, crisis management, intelligence and surveillance unit, anti-kidnapping, and cultism unit. They will conduct both overt and covert operations to ensure the security of lives and property.
Adaralewa emphasized the importance of collaboration among the personnel and sister agencies, urging them to execute their duties diligently and professionally. Patrol teams will be deployed across the state, with some personnel stationed at strategic points.
He noted that these locations encompassed praying grounds, recreation centers, malls, marketplaces, and critical national assets, all of which will be safeguarded throughout the entire celebration period.
"The 1,500 personnel were selected from various specialized units, including a special female squad, swift action response, anti-vandalism unit, armed squad, crisis management, intelligence and surveillance unit, anti-kidnapping, and cultism unit. They will conduct both overt and covert operations to ensure the security of lives and property.
“I urge you to collaborate closely with other sister agencies in the state and perform your duties with diligence and a high level of professionalism to ensure a smooth and safe celebration."
The patrol team will be responsible for statewide coverage, with additional personnel deployed to strategic locations, including praying grounds, recreation centers, malls, marketplaces, and critical national assets, to ensure security before, during, and after the celebrations.
The Osun NSCDC boss emphasized the importance of reporting any suspicious movements or individuals to the nearest security agency. Additionally, he encouraged Muslim faithful to utilize this period for prayer, focusing on peace, stability, and progress in the country.
