One year in office: My responsibility is solely to the people of Abia, no one else – Gov Otti

The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, commemorated his first anniversary in office by hosting a town hall meeting with the people and stakeholders of Abia Central, including Umuahia North, Ikwuano, Umuahia South, Isialangwa North, Isialangwa South, and Osisioma Local Government Areas.

The event was held at the International Conference Center in the Ogurube Layout of Umuahia, Abia State.

In his speech titled "A Meeting with Kingmakers," Otti referred to the people as the true kingmakers, expressing his gratitude for their support. "You are the ones that made me governor; without you, I wouldn’t be here. You are the ones we are answerable to. I therefore owe my responsibility to you all, both individually and collectively, recognizing that power belongs to God and no one can claim it solely," he said.

He acknowledged the mayors and the members of both the national and state assemblies for contributing to the success of the program.

Governor Otti emphasized that he is aware of their concerns and that his administration is still in its early stages. He stressed that repeating the same actions will not yield different results and urged the people to be actively involved in the new Abia, to make suggestions, and to ask questions. He called for active participation in the governing process.

He reiterated that the days of government allocations and internally generated revenue being misappropriated are over, affirming that it will not be business as usual.

The governor reaffirmed that his administration was brought in by the mandate of the people, stating, "We promised that we would use the resources of the people to work for the people."
