The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended Ayobami Oyeleye, a 30-year-old man, for the heinous act of severing his mother's hands with a machete. Reports indicate that Oyeleye also inflicted a deep cut on the head of his 65-year-old mother, Esther, during an altercation on Tuesday in Akibo village, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

The disturbing incident came to light when neighbors were alerted by a commotion from Esther's house. Upon investigation, they discovered her lying in a pool of blood with both hands severed and a severe stab wound to her head. Oyeleye was found standing beside his mother, wielding a sharp cutlass.

An eyewitness, speaking anonymously, revealed that Oyeleye had used the cutlass to harm his mother's head and legs. The victim was promptly taken to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

Omolola Odutola, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and the subsequent arrest of the suspect. The police retrieved the cutlass used in the crime, and an ongoing investigation is underway.
