NSA seeks religious leaders’collaboration against terrorism, extremism
Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, has advocated for greater cooperation between religious leaders, communities, security agencies, and the government in the fight against terrorism and extremism.In his Eid-el-Fitr message to the Muslim community on Sunday, Ribadu emphasized the importance of collective efforts in strengthening national security.
Ribadu urged Nigerians to carry forward the values of peace, empathy, kindness, and tolerance instilled during the holy month of Ramadan and apply them to the larger task of maintaining national security.
He emphasized that cooperation from all sectors, including religious leaders, is critical in addressing national security challenges.
"Your cooperation in the fight against terrorism and other threats remains vital to ensuring peace and stability across our nation, particularly in our commitment to a 'whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach,'" Ribadu tweeted.
He also emphasized the importance of religious leaders working with the government and security forces to combat terrorism and extremism, ensuring Nigeria's unity and safety.
"The continued collaboration between the government, religious leaders, communities, and security agencies in combating terrorism and extremism remains paramount," Mr. Ribadu said.
Reflecting on the significance of Eid-el-Fitr, Ribadu urged Nigerians to use the occasion to reflect and renew their commitment to peace and national unity.
"Peace, unity, and compassion are the core values underpinning the true spirit of Eid-el-Fitr," according to him.
Ribadu concluded by urging all Nigerians to remain vigilant against any forces threatening peace and unity, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in creating a Nigeria where all citizens, regardless of faith, can live in harmony and prosperity.
"I appeal to all Nigerians to remain vigilant against any forces that threaten our peace, and together, we can build a Nigeria where all citizens, irrespective of their faith, can live in harmony and prosperity," Ribadu told the press.
