NRC suspends train services for Saturday’s election

The Nigerian Railway Corporation announced on Tuesday that rail services would be suspended from February 25 to February 27, ahead of Saturday's elections.

The railway corporation's spokesperson, Mahmood Yakubu, made the announcement in a statement, saying the decision was made to allow Nigerians to exercise their right to vote in the presidential and National Assembly elections.

Yakubu stated that the following interstate mass transit services will be temporarily suspended: Abuja-Kaduna, Warri-Itakpe, Lagos-Ibadan, and Iddo, Lagos-Ijoko.

He did, however, state that services would resume on February 28, 2023.

"In light of the country's upcoming presidential general election, the Board and management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) hereby inform the general public, particularly our valued passengers, of the temporary suspension of train services from Saturday 25th to Monday 27th February 2023, to allow Nigerians to exercise their civic responsibilities," the statement read.

"These train services include the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS), the Warri-Itakpe Train Service (WITS), the Lagos-Ibadan Train Service (LITS), and the Iddo Lagos-Ijoko interstate Mass Transit passengers' train services. However, management assures the public that normal train services will resume on Tuesday, February 28th, 2023."
