NDLEA dismisses claims of secret cocaine airstrip in Kebbi

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has denied reports of a secret airstrip in Kebbi State used for cocaine smuggling, calling the claims "mischievous, baseless, and politically motivated." The agency investigated the allegations and found no evidence to support them.

NDLEA's Kebbi State Commander, Rabi'u Abdullahi Sokoto" said a thorough investigation revealed the claims were "baseless and lack merit." He described the viral video showing the alleged airstrip as "clearly AI-generated, fabricated to mislead the public and serve ulterior motives."

The NDLEA questioned the feasibility of an obscure airstrip accommodating 12 aircraft at a time. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and inter-agency collaboration to keep Kebbi State free from drug-related crimes.

The State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed, described the allegations as "patently ridiculous and laughable," accusing politicians of orchestrating the smear campaign to discredit Governor Nasir Idris and the people of Kebbi State. He linked the claims to political desperation.
