NCC ranks second in federal MDA website performance

The Nigerian Communications Commission has been recognized as one of the top three ministries, departments, and agencies of the Federal Government for 2025 by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms.

This information was shared in a statement released on Tuesday.

As per the statement, the commission was acknowledged as one of the highest-performing MDAs after receiving the Best Website Performance ranking for 2025.

This recognition comes just three weeks following the telecommunications regulator’s inclusion among the top five best-performing federal government agencies for 2025 by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council.

In the most recent assessment, the NCC secured the second position, trailing behind Galaxy Backbone Limited, which took first place, while the Nigeria Export Promotion Council claimed third place.

The ranking was based on an evaluation of 235 ministries, departments, and agencies of the Federal Government.

The Bureau of Public Service Reforms indicated that 14 evaluation criteria were utilized to compile the ranking.

The criteria comprised adherence to the .gov.ng domain name, visual design and aesthetics of the website, quality of content, relevance to the agency’s mission and government policy, and the structure of the website.

Additionally, factors such as the website’s responsiveness (device compatibility), security measures, loading times, usability/ease of navigation, availability/uptime, functionality, interactivity, accessibility, and capacity building were considered.

“The announcement of the recognition was made during the official release of the federal government’s 2024/2025 Scorecard Ranking for MDAs’ Websites, with the award presentation occurring at BPSR’s Office,” the statement noted.

It further mentioned that the award represents a vital index metric within the National e-Government Masterplan for evaluating Nigeria’s e-government status.

The statement also indicated that the award was conferred upon the commission in acknowledgment of its dedication to maintaining a high-quality website that improves service delivery to citizens.

Abraham Oshadami, the Executive Commissioner for Technical Services at the Nigerian Communications Commission, accepted the award on behalf of the commission.

Oshadami expressed gratitude to the Bureau of Public Service Reforms for the recognition.

He characterized the award as an additional incentive for the commission to further enhance its role as a public service institution by utilizing digital platforms, such as its website, to improve service delivery to stakeholders.

In the meantime, Dasuki Arabi, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, praised the top three agencies for their proactive measures in upholding world-class websites.

Arabi noted that these websites aligned with the Federal Government’s policy objectives for effective and efficient service delivery to citizens.

He stated that the 2024/2025 ranking reflects the combined efforts of federal public institutions to foster transparency, accountability, and openness in governance.

According to him, the results of the ranking also affirmed Nigeria’s adherence to global best practices in public service delivery.

Arabi went on to reveal that the annual website ranking was initiated approximately six years ago.

He mentioned that since its inception, an increasing number of public institutions have demonstrated a willingness to adopt reforms and align with the current administration’s policy direction.
