Man taken into custody while trying to unlawfully access a bank in Lagos

In the Oko Oba region of Lagos State, a 43-year-old man named Azeez Isa was apprehended for his attempt to rob a modern bank located across from Maplewood Estate. This incident occurred during the early hours of Sunday.

According to an undisclosed police source, Isa was apprehended with a sledgehammer, which he had employed to strike the bank's security door in an attempt to breach it. The source, preferring not to disclose their identity, stated, "The bank's security personnel, stationed on duty, detected the noise of an object being struck in the early morning hours."

"They followed the noise and discovered an individual using a sledgehammer to strike the security door. He persisted in his attempts, seemingly oblivious to the fact that the loud noise might draw the attention of nearby witnesses," explained the police source.

The security guards initially felt apprehensive as they were uncertain whether anyone else was involved in the operation.

The incident was verified by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.

"We received an emergency call at approximately 4:20 am, and our patrol team acted promptly. The individual was apprehended while in the midst of attempting to breach the door. He is presently in police custody and is undergoing interrogation," he stated.
