Kaduna Police Confirm NYSC Member Grace Chalya Silas' Brutal Murder
The Kaduna State Police Command has officially acknowledged the brutal killing of Grace Chalya Silas, an NYSC member, by unidentified assailants in the state. ASP Mansir Hassan, the Command's spokesperson, revealed that Police Commissioner Musa Yusuf Garba has instructed a comprehensive search for the culprits. Silas was fatally stabbed during her morning jog in Barnawa, Kaduna South Local Government Area, as reported by Naija News on Wednesday.
After the tragic incident, friends and classmates of the deceased at the University of Jos (UNIJOS) took to Facebook to mourn her untimely death. Speaking to The Punch, Hassan described the incident as a "very tragic" encounter with phone snatchers on motorcycles during Silas's exercise routine. The victim, a Corps member serving in Kaduna South, was promptly attended to by police operatives upon the report. Despite being rushed to the clinic, she was later confirmed dead.
In response to the reported crime, Commissioner of Police Musa Yusuf Garba convened an emergency meeting with the command's top officials. The decision was made to direct the Barnawa Divisional Police Officer and operatives to actively pursue the killers of the Corps member. The police are in contact with NYSC officials in the state, and the Commissioner has instructed the Barnawa DPO and Area Commander to promptly identify and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act.
