JUST IN: Fatal Crash Claims Four Lives in Lagos Mile 2

On Tuesday morning, a deadly clash involving Lagos Task Force officials, tanker drivers, and touts at Mile 2 reportedly claimed the lives of at least four individuals. The skirmish occurred at the Mile 2-Oshodi bridge, leading to the closure of the bridge and diverting traffic to alternative routes.

A stranded passerby, Mr. Richard Igbe, alerted Vanguard to the situation, describing the bridge as barricaded and access roads blocked. While the exact cause of the altercation remains unclear, Igbe mentioned that four individuals had been fatally shot during the conflict.

Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu inaugurated the Blue Rail Line, taking its inaugural ride on Monday. The Blue Rail Line is set to commence operations immediately and will provide a faster commute, with a promise of just a 15-minute journey from Marina to Mile 2. Initially, the train fares were set at N750 from Marina to Mile 2, N500 from Marina to National Theatre, and N400 to Iganmu-Orile, but a palliative adjustment reduced the fare from Mile 2 to Marina to N375.

LAMATA Managing Director Abimbola Akinajo revealed that the Blue Rail Line's first phase includes stations at Marina, National Theatre, Iganmu, Alaba, and Orile, offering 12 daily trips initially but expanding to 76 trips running from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Passengers are cautioned against crossing the tracks and are advised to use overhead bridges for safety.
