I begged Shettima’s wife for N2m – Oluremi Tinubu

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Bola Tinubu, has revealed that she begged Hajia Nana Shettima, wife of her husband's running mate, for N2 million on Wednesday.

Oluremi said this to counter the popular belief that the family was wealthy and her husband was popular because of his wealth.

Oluremi, a former Lagos Senator, said this on Thursday, during a town hall meeting with People Living With Disabilities in Abuja.

"I'm curious when they say he has the world's money. Mrs Shettima is aware that I begged her for N2 million yesterday," she stated.

She attributed Tinubu's popularity to his generosity rather than his wealth.

"Asiwaju's secret is not about money, contrary to popular belief, he is a very compassionate and generous man," Oluremi said. Nothing is beyond his ability to provide."

"I remember after he finished as governor, we used to have this staff at home; if you needed anything, he would say go and meet so and so―that is who he is.

"The people you see at rallies are not looking for money. They believe that someone can give them hope during these difficult times."

Tinubu is one of the major candidates running for President of Nigeria in the general election next Saturday.
