Governor Abiodun Responds to Presidential Tribunal's Confirmation of Tinubu's Election Win

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has issued a response regarding the recent developments in the court proceedings where the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal upheld Bola Ahmed Tinubu's victory in the presidential election held on February 25th.

During a lengthy session that spanned approximately 12 hours, the Tribunal dismissed the petitions filed by the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party's Peter Obi. In doing so, it affirmed the election victory of Tinubu, which had initially been announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement provided to the press in reaction to the Tribunal's decision, Governor Abiodun extended his congratulations to President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima on their decisive win. He emphasized that the tribunal's ruling served as a confirmation of the trust Nigerians had placed in the President, as demonstrated by the results of the presidential election.

Abiodun went on to describe the judgment as both sound and comprehensive, commending the judges for their unwavering courage in fulfilling their responsibilities.

“It is heartwarming that the tribunal judges did not succumb to intimidation by the opposition, who deployed various antics to sway the judgement in their favour.

“The judgement is a further testament to the fact that the judiciary is the last hope of our people,” he said.
