Following a road crash, the FRSC cautions motorists to refrain from overloading and speeding

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) issued a warning on Wednesday to motorists traveling along the Lagos-Badagry expressway regarding the risks of overloading and speeding during the ember months.

Mr. Williams Manga, the Badagry Unit Commander of FRSC, delivered this warning during a sensitization program arranged for members of the Association of Table Water Producers of Nigeria (ATWAP).

"We have gathered here today to educate you all on ensuring safety throughout the ember months and beyond. It is widely recognized that speed limit violations and overloading are major contributors to road accidents on the Badagry expressway," he emphasized.

Manga stressed the importance of maintaining functional brakes, wipers, and good tires to prevent traffic accidents. He urged everyone to prioritize human life by adhering to traffic rules and not overloading their water trucks with goods and passengers, which poses serious dangers.

Manga also encouraged "pure water" drivers to follow the proper procedures for obtaining legitimate driver's licenses to avoid legal issues while driving. Additionally, he cautioned against using expired or second-hand tires on their vehicles, as it could lead to accidents.

In response, Mr. Isaac Obadairo, the Chairman of ATWAP for the Badagry zone, assured the unit commander that the drivers would adhere to all the instructions provided.

"We have heard your message, and it's essential for our safety and well-being. We pledge to comply with all the instructions and guidance given to us today. This is our first meeting with you since your posting to the Badagry unit command, and we will cooperate with your personnel to enhance highway safety," Obadairo affirmed.

Furthermore, Obadairo committed to ensuring that his members followed the appropriate procedures for acquiring legitimate driver's licenses.
