FUT Minna Lecturer Brutally Killed, Throat Slit
Yesterday brought a tragic event with the shocking discovery of the brutal murder of Dr. Funmilola Adefolalu, a lecturer at the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna.
Reports indicate that church members, concerned about her absence from church, found the lifeless body of the biochemistry lecturer in her apartment. Dr. Adefolalu, affiliated with the Department of Biochemistry in the School of Life Sciences at FUT Minna, was discovered dead in her residence in the Gbaiko area of Bosso in Minna, Niger State.
Additional details about the incident revealed that she was gruesomely killed, lying in a pool of her own blood with her throat slit. Stab wounds and the knives used in the attack were found beside her.
The chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the school, Professor Gbolahan Bolarin, confirmed her death and expressed concern about the rising insecurity affecting academics. He emphasized the need for action to address the alarming level of insecurity, citing the frequent kidnapping of members.
The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, also confirmed the incident, stating that friends of Dr. Funmilola Adefolalu visited her residence in Gbaiko Area of Minna after being unable to reach her by phone. Unfortunately, they discovered her lying in a pool of blood with signs of injury.
Two knives used in the attack were recovered from the scene, and the police have initiated an investigation. The remains of Dr. Adefolalu have been moved to the mortuary by the police.
