FIRS rebrands as Nigeria Revenue Service ahead of 2026 tax reforms
The Federal Inland Revenue Service has announced a new name and corporate identity, rebranding as the Nigeria Revenue Service, as the country prepares to implement a new tax system starting January 1, 2026.
The new logo and branding were introduced on Wednesday in Abuja by Zacch Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of the NRS.
This rebranding follows the passage of the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Act, 2025, which was signed into law by President Bola Tinubu in June 2025.
With this legislative change, the NRS has officially taken over from the FIRS as Nigeria’s primary revenue authority, with an enhanced mandate as part of the country’s comprehensive tax reform initiative.
During the unveiling event, Adedeji mentioned that the new identity represents a strategic shift in Nigeria’s revenue administration framework.
In a statement from Dare Adekanmbi, the Special Adviser (Media) to the Executive Chairman, Adedeji affirmed, “The launch of the NRS identity demonstrates a renewed commitment to creating a more integrated, efficient, and service-oriented revenue system, consistent with Nigeria’s economic transformation plans and international best practices.”
He characterized the new logo and brand elements as an important milestone in the progress of Nigeria’s revenue administration framework.
According to him, the rebranding: “indicates continuity in purpose, enhanced institutional capacity, and a progressive stance in supporting taxpayers and national development.”
Adedeji also reassured Nigerians that the NRS would maintain its focus on transparency, collaboration, and excellence in service delivery.
