Suspected Herders Allegedly Kill Civil Servant and Farmer in Edo
In Edo State, a civil servant and farmer named Inofomoh Gabriel was reportedly killed by kidnappers believed to be herders.
The incident occurred in the Jattu community, the administrative center of the Uzairue clan, located in the Etsako West Local Government area of Edo State.
According to sources, the victim, who was also employed at Auchi Polytechnic, visited his farm last Wednesday but failed to return home.
Concerned about his absence, community members organized a search party, and tragically, Gabriel's lifeless body was discovered in the bush on Saturday.
According to the source, "The deceased headed to the farm on Wednesday but failed to return. A search team commenced combing the bush on Thursday, and tragically, his lifeless body, bearing machete wounds, was discovered on Saturday.
"We suspect the involvement of herders known for kidnapping farmers in the region, sometimes resulting in fatalities."
The source mentioned that the incident had been reported to the Jattu Police Division. However, an individual from the station, while confirming the occurrence, declined to comment, citing lack of authorization.
