DHQ Reports: Niger State Records Loss of 36 Military Officers in Nigeria
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed the tragic loss of 36 officers in Niger State.
The fatal incident occurred when insurgents ambushed troops in the Zungeru area of the state, resulting in the unfortunate demise of Nigerian Army personnel.
Additionally, a Nigerian Air Force MI-171 Helicopter involved in a casualty evacuation mission crashed on Monday within the Shiroro Local Government Area (LGA) of the same state.
Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, provided these details during the biweekly briefing of the Defence Media Operations on Thursday. He conveyed a comprehensive account of the casualties stemming from both the troop ambush and the helicopter crash on August 14, 2023.
In relation to the helicopter crash, Major General Buba reiterated that an ongoing investigation aims to ascertain the cause of the incident.
He also emphasized the importance of citizens remaining cautious about terrorist propaganda and maintaining their commitment to patriotism.
