Controversial Isese Religion Activist, Tani Olohun, Offers Apology to Muslims and Ilorin Emirate
Adegbola Abdulazeez, widely known as Tani Olohun, a contentious practitioner and activist of the Isese indigenous religion, has expressed remorse for his past actions and issued sincere apologies to Muslims, Islamic clerics, and the community of Ilorin Emirate.
Earlier, the Kwara State Police Command detained three Isese adherents, including Tani Olorun, Madam Efunsetan Abebi Aniwura Olorisha (Iya Osun), and Chief Ademola Olawoore (Baba Tede), accusing them of insulting prominent Muslim clerics in the state. The arrest was made on allegations of planning to instigate unrest in Ilorin city by inviting traditional and idol worshippers to assemble on August 20, 2023.
In a recent development, Tani Olohun, through his lawyer Muftau Olufela Olobi, conveyed apologies to the Association of Proud Sons and Daughters of Ilorin Emirate, as well as to Muslim clerics and adherents globally. The letter, dated October 9, 2023, emphasized that Tani Olohun has genuinely repented.
The lawyer expressed regret over the mixed reactions and misrepresentation of facts surrounding the events leading to Tani Olohun's arrest. He assured that Tani Olohun would exhibit different actions upon regaining freedom.
The apology letter, visible on SaharaReporters, acknowledged the client's remand in the Federal Correctional Centre since August 17, 2023. The letter appealed for understanding, citing the Holy Quran on forgiveness and concluding with a commitment to further actions that demonstrate genuine repentance upon release.
