CAC offers free registration to 3,500 small businesses nationwide

The Corporate Affairs Commission has offered free business name registration for 3,500 small firms across Nigeria's 36 states and Federal Capital Territory.

Hussaini Magaji, Registrar-General of the Commission, announced this in a post on the commission's X handle on Monday.

He stated that the effort intends to lower the cost of company formalisation for micro and small businesses while also encouraging more entrepreneurs to participate in the formal economy.

"In the spirit of the celebration, the CAC has announced free business name registration for 3,500 small businesses, to be distributed across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory," according to the commission.

Magaji noted that the program is intended to assist small firms in formalising their activities, giving them access to government services, funding opportunities, and increased economic engagement.

He also reflected on the commission's 35-year history, highlighting its transformation into a technology-driven organization that prioritises efficiency, openness, and worldwide best practices.

Magaji also revealed that the CAC plans to establish a collaboration agreement with Google to expand its digital infrastructure and service delivery, with the goal of improving portal performance and convenience of doing business.

He also announced the launch of a renovated CAC website with new digital tools such as an AI Lawyer for rapid help on CAC laws and procedures, as well as a company name generator to make it easier to reserve scalable business names.
