According to ASP Raji Akeem, the crimes occurred on August 8 at No 9, Warf Road, Apapa, Lagos. The complainant, Mr. Olubunmi Olumekun, had engaged the services of these three men for the loading and transportation of 375 bags of sesame seed, weighing 37.5 tonnes, with a value of N47.5 million.
Furthermore, the prosecutor stated that the individuals were entrusted with the task of delivering the bags of sesame seed to various locations within Lagos and Ogun states. Regrettably, the trio failed to fulfill this obligation, and despite the complainant's numerous attempts to recover his goods, all efforts proved futile.
The prosecutor specified that the charges were in violation of sections 287 and 411 of the 2015 Criminal Law of Lagos State.
Nonetheless, the three men entered pleas of not guilty to the charges. Chief Magistrate Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi subsequently granted each of them bail in the amount of N3 million, with two sureties required to post a similar sum.
The magistrate then postponed the case to be mentioned on October 23.
