British Airways plane loses wheel after take-off in US

Shortly after taking off from the United States on Monday night, a British Airways flight headed for London lost a wheel.

Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft, flying as Flight BA274 from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas to Heathrow, seemed to lose a rear landing gear wheel.

Shortly after the aircraft rose off the ground, footage from a Flightradar feed showed an object falling from the right side of the aircraft.

British Airways Flight 274 lost a tyre after takeoff in Las Vegas at approximately 8:45 p.m., the US Federal Aviation Administration said AM Business.

"On Monday, January 26, at approximately 8:45 p.m. local time, British Airways Flight 274 lost a tyre during takeoff from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas," said Rick Breitenfeldt, FAA Public Affairs Specialist.

After flying for almost ten hours, the Airbus A350-1000 made a safe landing in London with no reported casualties.

Breitenfeldt stated, "The Airbus A350 continued to Heathrow Airport in London, where it landed safely."

According to FlightAware data, the plane reached the UK at approximately 2:30 p.m. The US FAA promised to look into it.
