Bauchi APC governorship candidate loses council to Atiku
Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Bauchi State, has lost his Local Government Area, Giade, to the Peoples Democratic Party in Saturday's presidential election.
Abubakar, the former Chief of Air Staff and former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Chad, failed to deliver his LGA to the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as the PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was declared the winner.
The electoral officer of Giade LGA, Babangida Yerima, announced the results of the election at the Presidential Election Collation Centre, Independent National Electoral Commission headquarters in Bauchi, indicating that Atiku won by 1,595 votes.
According to him, Giade LGA has 73,002 registered voters, while 28,137 are accredited to vote.
He claimed that Atiku of the PDP received 11,977 votes to Tinubu of the APC's 10,382 votes.
The New Nigeria People's Party received 4,002 votes, while the Labour Party received 17 votes.
Yerima stated that the total number of votes cast was 27,468, with 26,579 valid votes and 889 rejected votes.
